Since I am on my Spring Break, I ran to Target to check out the Dollar Spot. I have a somewhat tropical theme in my classroom that could easily lend itself to the jungle motif, so I was beyond excited when I saw these little rugs for $2.50! I also bought a few more storage containers. You can never own enough tubs, buckets, or boxes as a teacher.
My favorite finds are these three little mini-trashcans I found. I bought a monkey, an elephant, and a giraffe. I am turning them into Sound Snackers! If a word fits the rule we were looking for, we’ll feed the animals.
I also found a really cute book at Borders over break that I LOVE. It’s by Bob Dylan!
I’m finally getting around to posting pictures of the Little Detective Files from my Super Sleuth unit. I thought I’d unceremoniously include them here as I’m tackling my paper mountain and checking things off of my perpetual to-do list. Each of my students read a different mystery, completed a report, and organized their materials using these case files. Just a little flair made this project feel like an authentic detective case, and my students loved it!

I love the trash can and I hope to find them and the rugs at my Target. Did you say it was up front in the dollar bins?

Amanda,
I am on spring break too, and I have been at school just the same. I had on my to do list for tomorrow to PURGE tons from my filing cabinets. I guess spring cleaning is in the air! I love your idea about the trash cans and rugs. I've just used beach towels folded in half for those wigglers.
Thanks for your posts, and I love your TpT store!

I recently picked up those trashcans as well – too cute to pass up!
I'm planning on using mine for a similar purpose – word sorts. I'm in the process of making a mounted "frame" where I can clip on word chunks so they can easily be changed out 🙂
