I am always looking for ways to blend subject areas together to get more bang for my buck! π This FREEBIE file can be used to teach students about culture and our human fingerprints. It can also be used in tandem with Tanny McGregor’s trash can inferencing lesson! Hope you can use it!!! π

Thank you for sharing! The original idea may have come from the book Comprehension Connections (http://www.amazon.com/Comprehension:
Connections-Bridges-Strategic-Reading/dp/0325008876/ref=pd_sim_b_3
The author brings a bad of garbage from a neighbor's house to her class and asks the students to infer information about the neighbor. If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it!
Again, thank you for sharing (as always : )

Camille, that is my favorite professional book, hands-down! I know that Tanny has the trash can lesson, but the page I created was based off of another source. I remembered where it came from! I was given a stack of old dittos and sheets from the 1970's… I liked the idea of trash can archeology in one of the books… but I adapted it to create this sheet… to fit with Tanny's lesson! Eureka! I remembered! π

This is ADORABLE! I want to do a book study with Tanny McGregor's "Comprehension Connections" sometime this summer. Would you be interested in doing it with me? I was going to ask a few other bloggers too. I absolutely LOVE her ideas, and I somehow ended up with 3 copies of the book so I could mail them to whoever wants to join in on the fun.
Let me know, sweet girl!

What a great idea! This is so cute. I think I might bring in a "trash bag" with things about me as a get to know the teacher. I might even let one child a week bring in a trash bag. When I intorduce inferencing, I can tell them they have been doing it every week! Thanks for the inspiration!

Amanda…Question for you. I tried to download this sheet (perfect for SS, btw) but the link does not take me to the proper place on TPT. I did a search on TPT and nothing showed up. Just wondering if you took it off the site. Thanks.
