Yes, this is really happening. Even if you blink several times, you will see that I have, in fact, blogged for three consecutive days. One of my smaller resolutions for 2014 is to increase the frequency of my posts, and so far, it’s working out! Ha! So far, so good!
Today, I’m here to share my “Creating and Crafting” resolutions. Allow me to be completely real about something though. I am not an overly crafty person. Truly. Sometimes I can come up with a cute idea for my classroom… but most of the time… I’m borrowing craft ideas from some of my more crafty friends. We don’t have a lot of classroom time for crafts… so quite honestly… I don’t spend much time on them. If I make a craft, it has to be fast, furious, and have some kind of meat to it, or it just won’t happen at all. My rock people flip books are a perfect example of the functionality and practicality I crave when it comes to crafts. Otherwise, most of my creating comes in the form of classroom decorations or goodies. I love mixing patterns and colors in fun ways! I resolve to find new ways to incorporate simple and functional craftivities throughout 2014… on occasion.
That said, outside of the classroom, my life mirrors my classroom life. I like to decorate… especially with fun vintage pieces… but I am FAR from crafty. I actually think I could enjoy getting in touch with my craftier side… so maybe this year I’ll work towards creating a few projects that don’t involve simply writing on a chalkboard, tying knots into burlap for a homespun garland, adding a wooden letter to a wreath, or putting old sheet music inside of a frame. 🙂
I’m sure I’m loosing the term “creating” loosely here, but I am excited to create lots of healthy meal alternatives this year. I am just starting to jump onto the spaghetti squash bandwagon, for example. This is the start of something good… don’t you agree?!
Lastly, I resolve to get back into blogging and creating resources a little more this year. I have no idea how I am going to swing it, but I am hoping that creating a more structured blogging schedule will help me put in more time on here without monopolizing time with the mister. I’m currently working on a few different projects… one for word work… a few for Ohio fourth grade history… and some old product revamps.
To recap, this year, I’d like to work more meaningful craftivities into my lessons, I’d like to tackle a few home decor projects, I’d like to create more healthy meals, and I’d like to get back into the swing of creating more resources for my classroom. Fingers crossed! What are YOUR resolutions?!

That butternut squash looks amazingly wonderful! Yum! I, too, love that pom pom pillow! If we were closer, we could work on it together!
Thanks for sharing pictures of your awesome classroom!
